DIY Christmas Wreath

Christmas and DIY's are two of my favourite things, so when my mum said she was on the look out for a new wreath - I was like "um YES I will make one" - I also needed something to do for this post, as I am joining 12 other Kiwi Mummy Bloggers in a "12 days of Christmas Blog Collaboration".

{Blog} A is for April

For the month of April, I thought it would be fun to take part in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge (click to read more about the challenge)

So for the next month I will be going through the alphabet writing short blog posts about something starting with a letter in the alphabet. Sundays are exempt, so for example I am starting with April 1st, and the letter is A, April 2nd the letter B and so on.

I love April, for so many reasons. Easter falls in April this year, who does not love Easter, and easter eggs, hunts etc, and even more so that I have a child. We didn't really do the whole easter hunt thing last year as Keaton was not even 1, but bring it on this year.

Half of my family have their birthdays in April - I love birthdays, there is always cake. (that not the main reason I love them though). Keaton and I also share a birthday, so while (for the most part) our birthday is all about him, I get to remember getting/giving birth to the best present in the world.

{Blog} Weekly Wind Up

Nothing particularly exciting happened this week.
We did go to the NZ Breakers on Sunday. I got VIP tickets from work, we have not been to watch basketball in ages, and had a great time. We even walked on the red carpet to get in, had free drinks, and food ,and had really good seats at a table. Will definitely make sure we go to more games. Think Keaton is a bit young still ,but next season definitely.

I did pick up some bargain items when I went shopping on my lunch break. (I hate paying full price for anything, and the Mirrou shop has nothing over $19.90 – so I could not give up the opportunity to have a look at it. (I think that has been the highlight of my week so far).

Swimming lessons are back on this weekend. We have not been for a few months, as Keaton was getting sick all the time (it was over winter). So now that its summer and he is a bit older, I am hoping that he picks it back up again.

We are making the transition into a bed this evening – last night brad went to check on Keaton, and he was in the process of climbing out of his cot, he tried a while back (by standing on a teddy) – but after telling him off, he did not try again, until last night. So we are going to toddler proof his room tonight (move plugs etc) –and then let him sleep on his cot mattress on the floor, or take the one side off the cot, not too sure which option will be the best for him, as he moves so much in his sleep.

It’s a long weekend where we are this weekend, so thank goodness it’s only a 4 day work week.

Until next week then!!!

{Blog} Weekly Wind Up

Its the 3rd week in January already - and its pay day week! YAY!!!!!!! Here is what we got up to this past week.

Keaton had a haircut – I wanted to try and grow it out, but his hair is too curly, and it just looked like it had never been brushed (although every morning it gets brushed). It’s not the cut I wanted, I was after something a bit longer, but hey… it’s done now, it is better as he sweats a lot, so at least this keeps his head cool – I am sure when it grows out it will be how I wanted it in the beginning. It definitely makes him look like a little boy now.
On Tuesday we went and watched dumb and dumber to – oh my goodness it has to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I don’t quite remember all of the first one –but this was just terrible. Not sure if anyone else has seen it, would be interested in your thoughts if you have.Other things on the go at the momentWe are getting our house ready to sell – so there are a lot of little things going on at the moment. Things that normally don’t bother me, are now starting to bother me, I think I am just over this house now, however there is nothing really we like on the market currently, so hopefully something will come up soon. I am starting to plan for Keaton’s second birthday, we are going to be away for most of April – so need to get everything planned and sorted out before then. So I commenced operation Second Birthday party this week ,and its n full swing… Watch this space!!!
There are a few of us who have lunch every month together - it has to be no more than $10, and has to be a new place each time. Its a really good way to get out and try different cuisines. This months choice was Indian. I had the Butter Chicken - it was super yummy.

Plans for the weekend – a go slow…. Hoping to take Keaton to an animal farm or some sort, and then on Sunday we are off the basketball. Brad and I love watching basketball – we never watched it in South Africa, but it has to be one of our favourite sports to watch live in New Zealand. Can’t believe we have not been since I was pregnant, definitely long overdue. The weather is supposed to be good again – so will definitely have to head to the beach. I bought a new bikini, so will have to try it out.

Well that’s all for this week, I hope my life gets more interesting as the year goes on.

{Blog} Weekly Wind Up

A new sequence I am trying out – along with my Wednesday blogs, I am going to try and remember to do a weekly wind up post, just in case anyone is interested to see the other things my fandamily and I get up to during the week.

The second week of January is coming to an end, I still can’t believe we are in 2015. This week has been a real go slow week for me, especially with starting back at work after the break. I am just lacking motivation to do anything. Hopefully I get my work mojo back soon. On the home front – things are moving along, we are getting some work done on our house so that we can sell it when we get back from our holiday – so the house hunt is on…
We have decided to be rather picky about our next house… so should be interesting, as the house prices are crazy, and where we want to live is just ridiculous, I guess we will just have to wait and see what comes up.

We have been going for walks on the beach after work because the weather has been so nice. We bought a shade tent to take with us for days when it gets windy, but have not used it yet. Keaton had a ball in it when we put it up at home.

Not too much is planned for the weekend, hopefully Keaton sleeps in past 6am, I really need a good sleep in. We are supposed to be having another “Braai” (BBQ), so fingers crossed the weather is good.

This picture has no relevance to anything in the blog post, but I could not help putting it in here. Keaton and Ern came with Brad to pick me up from work yesterday and I was sitting in the back with them. Poor Ern lets me do anything to him, and I managed to capture yesterday’s antics.

Have a good weekend, and please don't forget to follow me on Facebook and bloglovin

{Blog} A day at the Zoo

We spent the second to last day of our Christmas break at the Zoo, here is some of what we saw.

The weather has been great here for the last couple of days - fingers crossed it stays this great for the rest of summer. We had a great time looking at the animals - it gets better each time we go, as Keaton is more interactive with the animals, his favourite this time were the monkeys!!!!

{Mummy Monthly} 20 Months of Madness

20 months down the line, and I still cant believe I am a mummy. Especially to this little guy!
Here is what he got up to in his 20th month.

{Blog} MRP Clothing Haul

Being south African, I was bought up shopping at Mr Price (now known as MRP), so I  had to share this little haul I did the other day.

A DIY Garden Wedding

My cousin got married a few weeks back, so I thought I would share some pictures of her theme and decor. I love weddings, they are such a special time, and I can’t help but get emotional. I was lucky enough to be in the bridal party, and I did a speech… well I tried to do a speech amongst my crying, what can I say, I am an emotional person.

They had a garden wedding, and luckily it did not rain – the morning of the wedding it was raining, but as the afternoon approached, thankfully they rain held off. The venue was really quite breath taking and made for some amazing photographs.

Her theme/colour scheme was burlap, burgundy, black and cream. Everything apart from the dresses were handmade, and I love the vintage look it gave to the overall wedding.
