{Blog} What a Silly Week

Silly, annoying, stupid, grumpy.

Those are a few emotions I am feeling at the moment.
I am not sure if its a cold, or sinus, but I have a blocked nose, and its driving me mad. I have used a whole roll of kitchen paper... don't ask, and it does not look like its going to stop anytime soon!

There was some "positivity" (Yes I know that is not an actual word, but i'm going with it) to the weekend however! We got to watch the minions movie before it hits the cinemas at the end of the week. Keaton has never been to the movies, he doesn't even like watching TV. He was so well behaved though, he actually made it through the whole movie, and only started losing interest with about 10 mins to go (it was also way past his nap time, so really not bad at all). Oh yes, and I got some new boots below:
My dad kindly helped with a DIY project I had, (its to do with GEO candles from #KMART and pendant lighting... that's all I am saying for now - here is a sneak peak
Keaton and his friend also had a play date, he is finally actually playing with his friends, for a while they just kind of did their own things, but I think they are at the age now, where they are able to interact socially.

I did some baking and the biscuits burnt. We have this oven tray and no matter what you put in it, it burns. Is that even possible?

I did manage to take some pictures this past week too, I have failed in the #FMSPHOTOADAY challenge, I love taking my daily pictures, but for some reason, I keep using all the data on my phone way before the month end, not sure how, but its silly and annoying. Therefore in protest (not really, but I need an excuse) - I am not currently doing the #FMSPHOTOADAY challenge for a while (well for the next week, until my data is topped up for the month). Here are some other pictures that summed up my week.
Poor Ernie... not really, but I love annoying him - this was his "Village People" look!
Lets just pause and look at how hideous these wall tiles are!!!!! They are what is currently on the wall in our kitchen - can't wait to knock those bad boys into tiny pieces.
Are there things that are just super silly that make you super grumpy and/or annoyed?
I am also annoyed that "positivity" is not an actual word!!!

Have a great week!

Quotes that make me happy

Quotes that make me happy

If you scroll through the never ending pages of Pinterest, you are bound to come by at least 50 pins that are either quotes, sayings, or words of wisdom.

Yes I am one of those people that like to have my walls full of quotes and sayings, and my camera roll is full of the same. They inspire me, motivate me, and make me feel happy.

Today I am sharing 5 of my top mummy quotes that make me happy, and reinforce the fact that I am a mum, and to me, these quotes sum up motherhood.

This could not be more true, Monkey see, monkey do. Even though my child is only 2, I have already experienced this so many times, be it accidental words that come out my mouth, actions I unknowingly do. Its so important to be aware of what you are doing at all times because kids look up to their parents, and place them on a pedestal because they want to be just like you, do what they do. I continue to make an effort to be a positive example so that my child will grow up doing the right things in life.

This is my far one of my most favourite quotes. I cant even begin to comprehend what I have gained from becoming a mum, its not something you can explain, or put in words. It has to be the best feeling in the world, and it makes me so happy.

This was my go word quote during the first few months of being a mum. Sleepless nights, utter exhaustion, thoughts of "why did I do this", and then you look down at the amazing gift that is causing all of this and you think " that's why". You can't help but smile, because while its one of the hardest times, its one of the shortest, and before you know it, they are too big to carry around all day because they don't want to be put down, or they fall asleep on you, and you physically cant move because they don't weigh 4kg's anymore.

No matter how many times I am called it, and no matter if the sentence starts with "no", hearing your child call you Mom, Mum, Mummy, Mama, is fantastic. It makes me happy. While the late night "MUMMY" calls are not great at the time, the fact that he wants me, and calls for me, outweighs my tiredness. I think its one of the first words kids say when they learn to talk, and once they have learnt to associate you with the word, it sticks. I love it, I love being called it, and I love the little person that calls me it!

I don't care if I don't buy anything for myself ever again, as long as my child has everything he wants and needs, and is happy, then so I am. This should be the definition of a mother, its so true, and is something I strive to live by on a daily basis. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my child happy.

Are there any phrases, or quotes that sum up motherhood for you, and make you happy?

{All Things Kids} Choo Choo Keaton is 2

Keaton recently turned two! Here are some pictures from his birthday party.
We went with a "Chugga Chugga Two Two Keaton is 2" themed party.

The invitation - inspiration for this taken from Pinterest - of course! For his first birthday I made a poster with his year of firsts, and really loved how it came out, so decided to do it again for this second birthday. I think I may frame them and put them in his bedroom - its a cute reminder and way to see how much he has grown.

We hired the local hall, which was a lifesaver as we are packing up our home, so there were boxes everywhere.
The hall has an outdoor play area for the kids, and we also hired a small jumping castle that was able to fit indoors (it was only for under 3's so was not huge at all - I want one for home). The kids loved it.
I also printed a shirt with Choo Choo I am 2 on it, which went great with his suspender shorts that he was given when we were in South Africa. The shirt was super easy to do, I bought iron on transfers off trade me and just printed the logo on our printer at home.
I am not the best cake decorator in the world, so this was my crazy looking train cake... I guess it kind of looks like a train, and Keaton loved it, so that's all that matters. He spent most of the time at the kiddies food table, and was sees carrying something to eat in both hands at all times. Who were we to tell him off, it was after all his birthday party.

This was a day filled with so many special moments, I love birthday and parties, and even though this was a totally crazy time for a party (with coming back from a holiday and packing up the house), I think it all came together really nicely.
