It’s almost December
1st!!!!! – eeek, I love Christmas -
I could live quite happily in a winter wonderland all year round
(somewhere like hogsmead – or Hogwarts) – ahhh I think I need to have a Harry
Potter movie marathon sometime soon… Anyway back to Christmas.
Last year I bought
Keaton an Elf on the Shelf – if you don’t know what it is, keep reading.
It’s not popular in
New Zealand, actually, I don’t think you can get them in stores here, I picked mine
up through book depository, but I think the “trend” is starting to pick up here
slowly.
So what is the elf
on the shelf? – An elf (either Boy or Girl) comes to “stay” at our house one
the 1st of December, and will
go back to the north pole every night to report back to Santa how the child has
been behaving. They come back every morning and are in a completely new place,
doing something crazy (this is optional). On the 24th December ,the
elf gets a ride back to the north pole on Santa’s sleigh and will remain there
for another year, until December 1 comes around again.
Ours has been named
Basil, and Keaton knows he is coming, but is not entirely sure who or what he
is, so it’s going to be a lot of fun. We have been reading the book that came
with Basil – which explains what he does and how he comes and so on, (if you
are thinking of getting one, defiantly get the one with the book).
There are heaps of things the elves do – they are never in the same place, and get up to mischief while you are sleeping… this is going to be fun. Some of the things they can get up to are below (thanks Pinterest) – I will definitely be using some of these idea’s, along with some I will have to conjure up. Keep a look out for a follow up post on all things elf on a shelf, and also make sure you follow me on Facebook and Instagram – to see what Basil gets up to.
