Kiwi Mummy Blogs Review - Heinz and Watties little kids range

Kids can be so fussy sometimes especially when it comes to food. Keaton has always been a great eater and will eat pretty much anything. However as he gets older, he is becoming slightly more fussy especially around dinner time.

I have always been a fan of the Wattie's and Heinz little kids range of packaged/convenience products because I am working mum. I don't always have time to make precooked meals and snacks for the weekdays, that are actually healthy. I am all about convenience and simplicity. The Wattie's little kids range, and the Heinz little kids range are complete from breakfast on the go, to mid day snacks and dinner meals.

The team at Kiwi Mummy blogs asked me Keaton to review some products from both of these ranges, and here are our thoughts on some of the things we tried:

Brekky to go - Heinz little kids
I have actually not seen these yet, so was excited to see what Keaton thought about them. The verdict - success, he was sick over the weekend and these little packs were just the right thing for him. I like that you can just pop one in your bag for a morning snack, or as a quick 'on the go' breakfast. And they are great for those days when you have a fussy eater who doesn't want to eat what you have made. Hell they are even good for dinners.

Keaton is also lactose intolerant, so I have to be careful what I give him. While these do contain milk, it did not affect him at all - so another plus here!

Things I loved about this product:

  • Contains no added salt
  • Contains no artificial flavours, colours, or preservatives
  • Naturally sweetened with apple juice
  • Great for on the go days
  • They are available in 2 flavours Banana, Oats with Cinnamon and Berry and Pear Muesli, with Greek style yoghurt.

Fruit & Veg SHREDZ - Heinz Little Kids
I have been a fan of these for ages, and they are something that are a staple in my handbag. Keaton absolutely loves them. We don't always have fresh fruit in the house, so these are a perfect addition to his lunches. They are super handy for those grocery shopping outings because they make no mess and there are enough of them to last him most of the shop, they are also handy for car trips because they make NO mess!

Things I love about these:
  • Contains no added or artificial colours
  • Contains no artificial flavours, sugars, preservatives or salt
  • Made from 99% Fruit and Veg
  • Perfectly sized for little fingers, and help with fine motor skills
  • They are available in 2 flavours Berries, Apples and Veg, and Peach, Apple and Veg
  • 5 sachets are in the box, and the packaging is super cute

Sometimes we get home late from work etc, and Keaton is grumpy from daycare, and there is just not enough time to cook dinner in time. Here is where these little canned beauties are amazing. Our go to flavour (and by far Keaton's favourite) is the Pasta Chicken and Vegetables

I always make sure I have at least 2 in the pantry because there are bound to be one of "those" days at least once a week.

From this range, I was sent the macaroni and meatballs flavours to try. I had bought this flavour once when Keaton was just over one and he refused to eat the meatballs (I think at the time he didn't have enough teeth to chew them), so I steered away from that flavour. He tried it over the weekend and devoured it (which I am totally shocked about because he isn't overly fond of meat). This flavour will defiantly be added to the pantry collection.

Things I love about these:
  • They come in 9 different flavours
  • Contain no artificial colours or preservatives
  • The serving size is perfect for little tummies
  • Super easy to get ready, just heat and eat (well take it out of the tin too)
  • You can pick these up at most grocery stores for under $3.00NZD

Check out the For Baby website, they have some AMAZING recipes and information on the whole Heinz and Wattie's range, and you can also have a look at the rest of the range too. How did I not know about this website sooner?

*** A Huge thanks to the team at Wattie's for sending us these to review - our job was made a whole lot easier because your range is one of our favourites already. ***
